In 2025, Logiqs reached a special milestone: 50 years of innovation, entrepreneurship and growth. What began in 1975 as a practical idea for the greenhouse industry has grown, over the span of half a century, into an international leader in automated logistics systems. It has been a journey driven by vision, courage and determination, powered by people who build the future together.

From Intransit to Logiqs: the early decades

The story of Logiqs starts on 1 July 1975, when Teun van den Dool founded Intransit B.V. At a time when automation in horticulture barely existed, he saw opportunities to make internal logistics smarter. This led to the development of innovative container systems for internal transport in greenhouses. Early customers such as WPK and VDE quickly adopted these solutions. Remarkably, some of the roll containers from those early years are still in use today, a tangible proof of the quality and durability on which the Logiqs story was built.

In the 1990s, Intransit became part of Alcoa Agro. This step brought international scale and additional expertise, but also showed how challenging it can be for a mid-sized company to fully thrive within a large corporation. In the early 2000s, a new phase began as part of the Huisman group, where the name Logiqs Agro was introduced. During this period, the foundation was laid for what would later become the core of the company: smart automation and software-driven logistics that go beyond purely mechanical solutions.

Innovation as a driving force: shuttles, iCUBE and new markets

Around 2009, Logiqs took a crucial step towards advanced automation with the development of shuttle systems. What started as a specific customer request from a grower evolved into a completely new logistics concept that enables products to be moved flexibly and efficiently. The transition from traditional conveyor-based solutions to intelligent, modular systems marked an important turning point in the company’s development.

After a turbulent period within the group, Logiqs became an independent company again in 2014. With a healthy financial foundation and a clear technological roadmap, the focus could fully shift to growth and innovation. One year later, in 2015, Logiqs introduced the iCUBE system, a modular shuttle-based solution for automated storage and internal transport. With iCUBE, Logiqs expanded from horticulture into broader logistics applications, including pallet storage. This innovation opened the door to a much larger international market. Today, Logiqs systems are used in more than 40 countries and around 60 colleagues work every day on the next generation of solutions.

Alongside its strong roots in greenhouse horticulture, Logiqs also explores new markets such as vertical farming. Through projects in the United States and other regions, the company is building valuable knowledge in a sector that is still evolving, contributing to sustainable food production and future-oriented cultivation methods.

Even after 50 years, the strength of Logiqs is still rooted in the same core values as at the very beginning. There is a constant curiosity about how things can be improved and a strong drive to develop new solutions. Honesty, responsibility and pride play an important role, as does the conviction that the people behind the technology make the real difference. This combination not only leads to robust, long-lasting technology but also to long-term relationships with customers, partners and colleagues around the world.

Logiqs Festival: celebrating this milestone together

On 14 March 2026, we celebrated this special anniversary with the Logiqs Festival, a festive day filled with connections, live music, food trucks and a relaxed festival atmosphere. Together with colleagues, former colleagues, partners and long-standing relations, we reflected on 50 years of Logiqs and looked ahead to what is yet to come. The festival was organised in collaboration with NON Events and was not only a moment of celebration but also of giving back.

During the event, we raised funds for Stichting Jade Uitwaaimomenten Kinderkanker, a local foundation that supports families with a seriously ill child. The final amount raised will be announced soon. In this way, we linked the celebration of a business milestone to a contribution to our community.

Looking ahead: continuing to innovate

50 years of Logiqs is not only a moment to look back, but above all an opportunity to look forward. In the coming years, Logiqs will continue to invest in innovation, both in horticulture and in broader logistics systems. New developments are already on the roadmap, with a clear ambition: to stay at the forefront in a rapidly changing world. If the past decades have shown anything, it is that innovation never stands still and neither does Logiqs.
